Gary Grufman

As a life-long Minnesota resident, Gary grew up hunting small game, upland game and waterfowl. Later, rifle and bow hunting for deer became his passion, which has evolved and expanded over the past thirty years. He has hunted and fished in some of the most beautiful and exotic places in the world, and his primary focus is now on big game hunting and fishing.

Some of his accomplishments include plains game hunting in Africa with bow and rifle and big game hunting in New Zealand, the United States and Canada. His North American trophies that qualified for the Boone & Crockett record book include Barren Ground Caribou, Alaskan Yukon Moose and Bison. Over 25 of his trophies have qualified for Safari Club Records, including two in the top ten listing.

His fishing adventures have taken him to New Zealand and all over Canada and the United States. He holds the past World Line Class record for Arctic Char.

Gary is a past vice-president and board member of the Minnesota Chapter of SCI and a past president of the SCI North Country Bow Hunters. He is also a life member of the North American Hunting Club and the North American Fishing Club, as well as a member of the NRA and FNAWS.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Environmental Design/Architecture, Gary was the Hennepin County Facility Manager for 26 years. He retired in 2007 and now owns G.L. Grufman Consulting.
